The simpler the machine the simper the inks that are going to be used are and the converse are also true. For a print job to be done effectively, the quality of the inks needs to match the machine and the items to be printed. The type of ink chosen consequently needs to be the appropriate brand for the machine and any items that are to be printed be they fabric, plastic or paper.

The uses of the end products are what dictate the inks to be used. As an example, if the end product of the print is for a banner then the ink to be used is of a different category as opposed to one for a plastic bag even though the basic minimum to be printed is the same. The strength of the ink must be taken into consideration as the process of the ink is going to be out through before the final work is done. If the ink is going to be heated in the dye sublimation process, then it should have the capacity to withstand the heat and not disintegrate in the process. If the main function of the inks is to print on paper then the dye used can be as simple as possible as opposed to one for the more technical aspects of printing. There are inks that are used to print on the negative parts of the paper and avoid the positive parts. These are used for the more technical printing aspects.
The Machine and the Material for Which you are Buying the Printer Inks
The machine that is to be used for printing is another thing to consider when the printing ink is being purchased before the printing can be done. The printer is considered because there may be a need for special housing for the printer inks and if they are lacking in the machine then they cannot be used. The cost of the inks has to be considered before purchasing. The inks that are purchased have to be cost effective regardless of the size of the work to be done. Last but not least the material to be printed in has to be considered even before the inks can be brought on board. The material is the final say on the ink as the different surfaces require different inks that will behave differently once they are applied to the medium of choice. As an example, the inks that are to be used on paper cannot be used on plastic or metal as the consistency is not only different but varies from one ink to the other. The ink to be used should be able to adhere to the print surface of choice and still remain as clear as possible.
The main things to be considered before purchasing printing inks are quite basics but if they are not taken into consideration, the end result can be quite disappointing.
